The 2015 Festive Lights Switch-on was held on Saturday, 14 November, an unfortunately blustery day. The tree went on at 5:30 after a countdown from Mayor Robert Dryden, and will be lit up at 3 pm every day for the duration of the holiday season. The new tree looks beautiful, so be sure to admire it next time you’re crossing Mill Road Bridge.
Thanks so much to the Susie Hinchcliffe at the Earl of Beaconsfield, whose generous donation of £500 helped us meet our fundraising goals. Relevant Records, The Six Bells Pub, and many other traders and community members donated their money, space or time to ensure that a new tree would light up Mill Road this holiday season.
Thanks also to Limoncello, 196, Cambridge Antique Centre and Garden Kitchen for donating items to the tombola. If you missed your chance to play, look out at the Winter Fair – the Festive Lights committee will be sharing a stall with Romsey Action and will be reprising the tombola. I’m pretty excited to have another go.
